# ZIP Setup

> Add ZIP codes by state, city, map, or number, understand plan slot limits, and know when ZIPs can be removed.

Deal Hub only shows listings for ZIP codes your organization has added. ZIPs are managed in the
**Add ZIP Codes** window, which combines a map, an add panel, and a slot tracker.

<Info>
  **Key things to know**

  * Your plan sets how many ZIP slots you have; the window always shows how many are left.
  * Adds and removals are staged first - nothing changes until you click **Save ZIP changes**.
  * New ZIPs lock for about 90 days after saving before they can be removed.
  * Only organization admins and owners can change ZIP codes.
</Info>

## Adding ZIPs

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the ZIP manager">
    Click **ZIPs** in the Deal Hub toolbar, or **Add Your First ZIP** if you have none yet, to
    open the **Add ZIP Codes** window.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add by state and city">
    In the add panel, pick a state (step 1), then start typing a city (step 2) and choose it
    from the suggestions. Picking a city is recommended - the map loads its ZIP boundaries much
    faster than for a whole state. Click **+ Add city ZIPs** to stage every ZIP in that city at
    once - the button shows how many ZIPs it will add. If the city has more ZIPs than you have
    free slots, you'll be asked to confirm adding as many as fit. To go back to browsing the
    entire state - for example to pick rural ZIPs outside any city - click **View whole state**
    under the city field.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Or add a single ZIP">
    In the same panel, type a 5-digit ZIP in the field under "or a single ZIP" and click
    **Add**. The map zooms to the ZIP you added.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Or click the map">
    Once a state is selected, ZIP boundaries for the visible area load on the map. More
    boundaries load as you zoom or move the map. Click any ZIP area to add it; click it again
    to remove it from your staged changes. A legend in the corner shows which color means
    available and which means selected, and a small badge reports loading progress.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Watch your slots">
    The **My ZIP Slots** panel shows ZIPs you've staged for adding first (marked **New**),
    followed by every saved ZIP and an **Add ZIP** button with how many slots are left. The
    panel header shows the new ZIP count. Staged ZIPs can be clicked to un-stage them before
    saving.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save">
    Click **Save ZIP changes**. A summary next to the button shows what will change (for
    example "+2 new ZIPs" and "1 removed"), and the save button includes the new ZIP count.
    If you're adding new ZIPs, a confirmation explains the
    lock: "You're adding 2 new ZIP codes. After you save, they will be locked for 90 days
    before you can remove them. Continue?" Saving immediately reruns your Deal Hub search with
    the new ZIP list. Closing the window with unsaved changes asks you to confirm before
    discarding them.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  **Related settings:** your ZIP slot count comes from your plan. See
  [Advanced Settings > Organization](/settings/advanced-settings/organization) for plan and
  billing details.
</Note>

## ZIP slots by plan

| Plan    | ZIP slots |
| ------- | --------- |
| Starter | 2         |
| Pro     | 25        |
| Premium | Unlimited |

If a higher tier is available, the slots panel also shows how many extra slots the next plan
adds, with an **Upgrade to unlock** button that opens your organization settings.

## The removal lock

* Each saved ZIP shows its removal status: **Removable**, or a countdown such as
  **Removable in 45d** (shown in minutes, hours, or days as the unlock approaches).
* Clicking a locked ZIP shows a message explaining when it unlocks; it cannot be staged for
  removal until then.
* Removals are staged like adds: removed ZIPs move to a separate area where you can undo them
  before clicking **Save ZIP changes**.
* The lock exists so listing history and market values stay meaningful for areas you scan.

## Restrictions

* Alaska, Hawaii, and Kentucky are not available in the state picker.
* Louisville, KY ZIP codes can't be added; entering one shows "Louisville ZIP codes are not
  allowed".
* ZIPs must be valid 5-digit codes; duplicates show "ZIP already saved" or "ZIP already added".
* When all slots are used you'll see "No ZIP slots available" until you remove a ZIP or
  upgrade.

## Common questions

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Why don't I see properties after adding a ZIP?">
    New ZIPs populate after the next data sync, which runs on a daily cycle. If the ZIP is
    saved but no listings appear, also check your filters - a tight price range or property
    type filter can hide everything. Reset filters to confirm.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Why can't I remove a ZIP?">
    New ZIPs lock for about 90 days after you save them. The ZIP shows a **Removable in**
    countdown until the lock expires; after that it shows **Removable** and can be removed.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I swap a ZIP for a different one?">
    Yes, as long as the ZIP you're removing is past its lock. Removing it frees the slot
    immediately, and you can stage the new ZIP in the same session before saving. The new ZIP
    starts its own lock period.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Who can manage ZIPs?">
    Only organization admins and owners can add or remove ZIP codes. Other team members can
    browse listings for the saved ZIPs but can't change the list.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What happens to saved deals if I remove their ZIP?">
    Nothing - deals already saved to your Deal Pipeline stay there. Removing a ZIP only stops
    new listings from that area appearing in Deal Hub browse.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="I added a whole city but some ZIPs are missing. Why?">
    **+ Add city ZIPs** only stages ZIPs that fit in your remaining slots and skips ZIPs you
    already track. If the city had more ZIPs than free slots, the confirmation told you how
    many were added.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What should I do if ZIP boundaries fail to load?">
    Click **Retry** in the map message. The ZIP manager retries only the failed boundaries
    and keeps the boundaries that already loaded. If the problem continues, close and reopen
    the ZIP manager before trying again.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Why doesn't my ZIP draw an outline on the map?">
    A small number of ZIP codes - typically PO-box-only ZIPs - have no mapped boundary in
    census data. You can still add and track these ZIPs normally; they just don't draw an
    outline on the map, and that isn't an error.
