Sequences have guardrails so outreach stays valid and easy to manage.

Build rules

  • Up to 10 steps.
  • At most 2 SMS steps.
  • Steps must be at least 10 minutes apart.
  • Two SMS steps, or two email steps, must be at least 24 hours apart.
  • Only one New Conversation step per channel.
  • A second SMS or email must be Existing Conversation.

Reply behavior

Pause-on-reply is always on. If a contact replies, their enrollment stops and pending steps are cancelled. They move to Moved out with a Replied badge.

Active enrollment limit

A contact can be in only one active sequence at a time. Use Stop & re-enroll to switch a contact to a different sequence.

Editing sequences

Sequences with active enrollments can’t be edited in place. Use Duplicate & Edit when you need to change the cadence or content.

Auto-enroll priority

If two auto-enroll rules match the same contact, the higher-priority sequence wins. Drag to reorder priority on the Sequences page.
